What personal information does Ensign collect?

Ensign collects personal information from you when you provide it to us directly, or through your use of our website for example when you register for an account with us. This may include your name and contact details and transaction, billing and delivery information if you make a purchase with us. We records relevant interactions with us, e.g. if you send email feedback to our website, ask a technical question, report a problem or otherwise contact us.

How does Ensign use my personal information?

Depending on how you use Ensign, your interactions with us, and the permissions you give us, we will use your personal information for the following purposes: To fulfil your order and/or provide you with the services you have contracted for. To maintain your online account with us. To manage and respond to any queries or complaints to our customer service team.

For security purposes, to investigate fraud and where necessary to protect ourselves and third parties. To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations. We rely on the following legal bases, under data protection law, to process your personal information: Because the processing is necessary to perform a contract with you, or take steps prior to entering into a contract with you (e.g. where you have made a purchase with us, we use your personal data to process the payment and fulfil your order). Because it is in the legitimate interests of Ensign where you are submitting orders. Because we have obtained your consent (e.g. where you contact us with a query, where you add optional information to your account profile). Because it is in Ensign’ legitimate interests as an e-commerce provider to maintain and promote our services. We are always seeking to understand more about our customers in order to offer the best products and customer experience. We use information about the products you search for, to tailor your view of Ensign, to make it more interesting and relevant in respect of the products on view.

With whom does Ensign share my personal information?

Ensign needs to share certain information with selected third parties in order to operate our business such as Carriers involved in the delivery chain like Royal Mail and Payment providers such as Stripe UK. On occasion, we also share personal information with our professional and legal advisors. Where you order is due for delivery outside the UK we may need to share information with customs authorities both in the UK and in the country of destination. We may also share personal information with law enforcement or other governmental authority, e.g. to report a fraud. We may share information with credit reference agencies and with third parties engaged in fraud prevention. From time to time, we may release aggregated and anonymised data in press releases. We would only personally identify you or any other customer in such press releases, advertising, or reports with your prior consent.

Where does Ensign store my personal information, and how long for?

Ensign uses service providers based around the world. Consequently, your personal information may be processed in countries outside of Europe, including in countries where you may have fewer legal rights in respect of your information than you do under local law. If we transfer personal data outside the European Economic Area we will, as required by applicable law, ensure that your privacy rights are adequately protected by appropriate safeguards.

We keep your personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes set out above, and so this period will vary depending on your interactions with us. For example, where you have made a purchase with us, we will keep a record of your purchase for the period necessary for invoicing, tax and warranty purposes. We may also keep a record of correspondence with you (for example if you have made a complaint about a product) for as long as is necessary to protect us from a legal claim. Ensign may also disclose personal information in cases where we believe the disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property or personal safety of Ensign, our customers, employees or the public, or where we are otherwise legally permitted to do so.

What does Ensign do to protect my personal information?

Ensign always aim to deliver the highest level of service and security to our customers and Ensign has been specifically designed with security in mind. In order to ensure the security and protection of your personal details whenever you submit any sensitive information such as credit card number and account details, we use the following security methods: 256 bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption - the latest technology to encode and protect your data. This means that your information is protected and safe to submit. Your Ensign My Account information is password-protected so that you and only you have access to this personal information. We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. We will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email.

All card numbers are handled by Stripe UK and encrypted with AES-256. Decryption keys are stored on separate machines. None of Stripe’s internal servers are able to obtain plaintext card numbers. Stripe’s infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and transmitting card numbers runs in separate hosting infrastructure, and doesn’t share any credentials.

No credit card details are stored on this website.

How does Ensign use my personal information for marketing?

We do not sell contact details to third parties and we do not engage in junk email or telephone marketing campaigns. No newsletter either. We respect your privacy.

How can I access, update, correct or delete my personal information?

You can view and edit your My Account  information at any time by clicking on the 'My Account' section which you can access anytime through the link in the foot of every page. If you have any other problems, please contact Ensign on 01672 497272. If you have a query regarding your personal information which you cannot resolved via your My Account profile, please contact us using the contact form.

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to access (including in a machine-readable format), correct, and request the erasure of your personal data, and Ensign will comply with any requests to exercise these rights in accordance with applicable law.
